My favourite deli’s in Melbourne

The best kind of shopping

Ohhhh is there anything better than a trip to the deli? Always going with the intention of only grabbing 1 or 2 things and leaving with an overloaded bad full of delicious delicacies.

PRESTON MARKET
Since I was a child, there is nothing better than a trip to Preston market. My absolute go to favourite is Lemnos Deli [pictured left] run by the same family for as long as I can remember. I always stock up on freshly grated Romano cheese, mortadella so delicately wrapped, the best Taramosalata dip on the market and a treat yourself tub of marinated octopus to keep you company on the rest of your shop.
Another quick stop I always make is to Salvonija Deli for the most fantastic Sicilian olives, served by a little Italian woman standing on a step to just see over the counter top! Bless

QUEEN VICTORIA MARKET
When I am in need of a special sweet treat of mascarpone filled soft preserved figs or no time to fiddle around with creating tasty nibbles to entertain with, Diannes Delights at QVM! A wide range of pre constructed finger foods, the best sheets of cold cuts fresh sliced and their trio dip that is so super addictive.

RESERVOIR IGA
Yes, believe it or not, this local IGA is unbelievably wonderful! I remember coming here with my Grandma and filling her trolly with all the goodies.

MORNINGTON PENINSULA
As many of you will soon discover, i spend a lot of my spare time down the peninsula. If you happen to be down that way I highly recommend heading to a weekend market to collect some home marinated olives & fresh produce. Provincia Food Store located on the beach in Dromana has a fantastic range and you can pick up a delicious coffee while you shop! If it is a wide range of cheese you are after, Tully’s is the one to stop past.
