This is a recipe I learnt to make while travelling in Taormina on the east coast of Sicily. You cant go anywhere here without seeing lemons in the shops, on display and on menus.
Perfect time to jump over the fence and pinch some of your neighbours lemon leaves off the tree!… unless you are super lucky to have a tree of your own.

Ingredients
500g beef mince
100g fresh bread crumbs
1 lemon
2 eggs
Fresh lemon leaves
2 tablespoons olive oil + fry
Salt & pepper
Method
In a large bowl, mix together the mince, seasoning, olive oil and bread crumbs. Add in the eggs as well as about half the zest of the lemon & juice and mix well.
Shape into burger like patties and place between 2 lemon leaves.
Grill on the BBQ or on a lightly oiled grill plate until cooked to your own taste. Yes, the leaves will tend to burn, this is normal!
Remove the leaves before serving with the squeeze of the remaining lemon half.
These can also be baked! Place on a tray lined with baking paper and cook for 8 minutes at 200 degrees.
